WHEN GOD SEEMS TO BE TAKING TOO LONG

WHEN GOD SEEMS TO BE TAKING TOO LONG

One of the most difficult seasons for any believer is the season of waiting.

Most people do not struggle when God says “yes.” They struggle when heaven appears silent.

You pray, but nothing seems to change.

You fast, but the situation remains the same.

You receive a promise from God, yet months or even years pass without visible evidence that anything is happening.

In those moments, many believers begin to assume that something is wrong. Some conclude that the devil is blocking their blessings. Others begin to wonder whether God has forgotten them altogether.

But one truth that every Christian must settle in their heart is this:

There is no devil anywhere in this universe that is not subject to the name of Jesus.

When Jesus rose from the dead, He declared, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” (Matthew 28:18)

The enemy does not possess the power to overrule God’s plans for your life. He cannot veto what God has approved. He cannot permanently stop what God has ordained.

Sometimes what we call delay is not demonic opposition.

Sometimes it is divine preparation.

We often see only the immediate moment, but God sees the complete picture.

A child may become frustrated when a parent says, “Not yet,” but the parent sees dangers and opportunities the child cannot see. In the same way, God often works behind the scenes in ways that are invisible to us.

When Joseph was sold into slavery, it appeared that God’s promise concerning his life had been delayed. Yet every painful season was positioning him for a throne.

When David was anointed king, he did not become king immediately. There were years of waiting, preparation, and testing between the promise and its fulfillment.

When Abraham received God’s promise of a son, he waited decades before Isaac arrived.

Looking back, we can see that God was never late.

He was preparing something greater than they could understand at the time.

One of the greatest mistakes believers make during seasons of waiting is abandoning the place of prayer.

Ephesians 6:18 says:

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

Notice the phrase: “always keep on praying.”

Scripture teaches perseverance in prayer.

Jesus Himself told His disciples a parable “to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” (Luke 18:1)

Prayer is not merely presenting a request to God. Prayer is also remaining connected to God while the answer is unfolding.

Many people know how to pray once.

Fewer know how to persevere.

The believer’s responsibility is not to dictate God’s timetable. Our responsibility is to remain faithful while we wait.

James tells us:

“But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” (James 1:4)

Patience is not passive resignation.

Patience is active trust.

It is the confidence that God is working even when you cannot see evidence of it.

It is continuing to believe when circumstances suggest otherwise.

It is continuing to obey when the outcome remains uncertain.

So what should you do when you find yourself in a season of delay?

First, continue praying.

Do not allow disappointment to silence your prayers. Every prayer offered in faith matters. Keep bringing your requests before God.

Second, continue growing.

Many people become so focused on what they are waiting for that they neglect who they are becoming. Use the waiting season to deepen your relationship with God, strengthen your character, and increase your spiritual maturity.

Third, continue serving.

The temptation during difficult seasons is to withdraw and become consumed by personal concerns. Yet some of the most powerful seasons of growth happen when we continue serving God and serving others while we wait.

Fourth, continue preparing.

If you are praying for an opportunity, prepare for it. If you are believing God for an increase, develop the skills necessary to steward it. Faith does not sit idle. Faith prepares for what it expects.

Finally, continue thanking God.

Gratitude protects the heart from bitterness. It reminds us that God’s faithfulness is not determined by today’s circumstances.

Sometimes God answers immediately.

Sometimes, He answers progressively.

Sometimes He allows a season of waiting because He is building something in you before He does something for you.

Whatever season you find yourself in today, remember this:

God has not forgotten you.

The delay is not proof of His absence.

The waiting season is not evidence of His rejection.

The same God who made the promise remains committed to fulfilling it.

Keep praying.

Keep trusting.

Keep growing.

Keep preparing.

And when the appointed time arrives, you will discover that God was working all along.
